Sunday November 17th marked the end of the Rutgers Kodenkan Jujitsu Seminar for 2024. Every year, this seminar invites dojos from across the country to Rutgers University – New Brunswick to teach Danzan Ryu Jujitsu as well as other techniques to students new and seasoned. This year, the seminar was held at the College Avenue gymnasium with classes split between the dance studio and wrestling room. Professors such as Delina Fuchs, Scott Redden, as well as Senseis Steve Balzac, Jason Davis and Barb Gessner were in attendance.
With an exceptional turnout from a diverse collection of dojos ranging from California to New York, several unique courses were offered to participants. Friday kicked off the seminar with each professor having the opportunity to teach a technique. The remaining weekend only got more exciting with each class taught. Courses included, but not limited to: Nage combinations, Yawara, standing chokes, joint manipulation and Goshin Jitsu. Everything taught Friday through Sunday came together to create an exciting and worthwhile event for all in attendance.
It goes without saying that the greatest source of joy for attendants was the Saturday night dinner at the Flaming Grill and Supreme Buffet in Manville, NJ. Instructors and students gathered here at 7 to enjoy an Asian Fusion buffet and socialize. Nothing makes a successful seminar quite like good food and company after all!
Rutgers Kodenkan Jujitsu extends its gratitude for all in attendance and looks forward to another good year of Jujitsu!
