AJJF Massage Certification Program
Okazaki Restorative Massage
Module I
A 150-hour course
leading to certification as a
Massage Technician
- Pre-requisites for the 150 Hour Module 1 Course
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Successfully pass the "Ability to Benefit Test".
- Advanced Placement - Credit for previous training.
- Transcripts from other Okazaki Restorative Massage courses will be considered
for possible acceptance of credit in lieu of hours.
- Each case will be decided individually by staff.
- AJJF Certified Black Belts may have up to 45 hours credited toward
their Practical Applications requirements, upon approval,
after demonstrating appropriate level technique at the mid-term evaluation.
- Upon completion of the 150 Hour Course, the graduate will be qualified to:
- Perform therapeutic massage on family / friends.
- Be self-employed as a Massage Technician, pursuant to local regulations in the
city in which the graduate intends to practice.
- Work for another professional in which the skills of therapeutic massage are applied.
- The 150 hours will be broken down as follows:
- 25 Hours - Human Anatomy and Physiology
- 25 Hours - History and Theory - Fundamentals of Traditional Oriental Medical Theory
- 10 Hours - Professional Standards - Business, Ethics, Law
- 90 Hours - Practical Applications (Massage)
- Required textbooks - students will purchase at a bookstore of their choosing.
- Anatomy Coloring Book - 3rd Edition
- The Complete Illustrated Guide to Chinese Medicine, by Tom Williams
- Suggested Text: Taber's Cyclopedic Medical Dictionary
- Each student will receive, at no charge beyond usual tuition, a Student Manual.
The Student Manual will include:
- Notes on the practical application of Okazaki Restorative Massage
- A study guide for Anatomy and Physiology
- A study guide for History and Theory - Fundamentals of Traditional Oriental Medical Theory
- Informational notes on Professional Standards - Business, Ethics, Law
- Tuition for the DZRSI courses will be set by the individual DZRSI schools,
and should be a reasonable fee for that locale.
