I. Requirements for AJJF School Membership

  1. School Head must have passed an AJJF Blackbelt examination
  2. School Head must be current a AJJF member.
  3. School Head must have current First Aid and CPR certifications.
  4. School Head must have completed an AJJF Ethics and Risk Management Class.
  5. School must have a minimum of 5 current AJJF members.
  6. All members of the school MUST be AJJF members.
  7. Commitment to the goals and standards of the AJJF.

II. AJJF School Membership provides the following:

  1. Invitation to and opportunity for participation in all AJJF activities under rules governing that participation. Activities include: tournaments, clinics, conventions, camps, seminars.
  2. Registration of all kyu belt levels awarded by that AJJF School and it's instructor(s).
  3. Free editions of the Kiai Echo, the official newsletter of the AJJF, and copies of all AJJF policies and administrative decisions.
  4. Each School Head shall have one vote on all issues under the jurisdiction of the school heads so long as both the school and the school head are, at the time of the voting, members in good standing of the AJJF.
    1. For an absentee ballot, contact the Manager of Internal Relations.
    2. The main areas of the jurisdiction of AJJF School Heads are:
      1. Election of the AJJF Operations Committee
      2. Recall of the AJJF Operations Committee
      3. Election of AJJF Regional Managers
      4. Recall of AJJF Regional Managers
  5. AJJF School or AJJF ALLIED School Certificate
  6. AJJF School or AJJF ALLIED School membership card
  7. AJJF School Handbook
  8. Liability insurance as described in the "Description of Insurance Coverage."

III. AJJF New School Application process

  1. Fill out "AJJF New School Application" (see Forms section)
    1. Attach requested documentation, including a signed Ethics Statement.
    2. Complete an AJJF Ethics and Risk Management Class.
  2. Send the form to your Regional Manager or to an active AJJF Professor for him/her to sign and return to you.
  3. Send the form and all requested documentation to Central Office.
  4. The application will be reviewed for completion and it will be presented to the ajjf board of managers.
  5. The Operations Committee will accept or reject the application and forward their decision with an explanation to the AJJF Board of Professors.
  6. The Board of Professors (BOP) will accept or reject the application and give their decision to the Central Office Administrator.
  7. Upon approval of the application by the Operations Committee and the BOP, the Central Office Administrator will issue a certificate of school membership, valid for one year.
  8. The initial 1 year AJJF school membership is provisional, having all the rights and privileges of a fully certified school for that year.
  9. ALL students in the new school MUST be AJJF members in order for the school to be recognized as an AJJF school. The school head may use the "AJJF New or Renewal or Temporary Membership Application" form to enroll new students and temporary visitors or students.
  10. Rejected applications will be returned with an explanation letter from the Central Office Administrator, and the application fee shall be refunded.

IV. AJJF School membership renewals

  1. Each school shall renew its membership yearly by sending a renewal fee when your annual membership expires.
  2. When a school membership does not maintain the required minimum of 5 AJJF members, the school membership will be suspended, including suspension of insurance coverage and suspension of AJJF voting rights. There will be a 90 day grace period from the time of notice until suspension of school membership.
  3. Should an individual's or a school's membership become delinquent, application for reinstatement and payment of delinquent dues may be made to the AJJF, but reinstatement is subject to the approval of the AJJF Operations Committee and the AJJF Board of Professors.
  4. Any school whose membership has lapsed for more than 2 years must reapply as a new school.
