Description
The Board of Professors (BOP) has the responsibility for the propagation and
maintenance of the Danzan Ryu System.
Mission
Preserve and promote the quality and world-wide growth of Danzan Ryu.
Further Information
The Board of Professors exists to preserve and propagate the system of Danzan Ryu. Its decisions relate directly to these functions. The legal and business decisions of the AJJF are the responsibility of the Board of Directors
A. Members of the Board of Professors
1. The BOP shall consist of active holders of the title of Professor in Danzan Ryu Jujitsu as awarded by the
AJJF.
* "Active Professors" are defined in the corporate Bylaws.
2. Honorary Titles: "Shihan" and "Honorary Professor"
* The Board of Professors may, at their discretion, recognize ranks or award honorary titles to members of other martial arts organizations. Those people so honored will not be considered active members of the Board of Professors.
B. Responsibilities - The Board of Professors
1. Shall ensure the continuation and growth of the Danzan Ryu system and the AJJF, within the stated goals and standards of the AJJF.
2. Shall be responsible for the instruction and professional growth of the school heads, blackbelts, and members.
3. Shall be responsible for the appointment of new Professors.
4. Shall be responsible for the election/appointment of the Senior Professor, Treasurer of the BOD, Administrator of Curriculum, and Administrator of Internal Relations.
C. Powers
1. The Board of Professors shall have jurisdiction over matters relating to the, instruction, and continuation of the AJJF and Danzan Ryu. Such jurisdiction shall include, but not be limited to:
1. Certification of schools, Blackbelts, and instructors.
2. Disciplinary actions of members and schools.
3. Review of the actions and decisions of the Operations
Committee.
a. The Board of Professors has complete veto power over the decisions and actions of the Operations Committee, without changing them.
b. All vetoes must be returned to the Operations Committee prior to their next meeting with explanation and/or recommendations for the change. Otherwise, Operations Committee decisions will be considered approved by the Board of Professors.
4. Selection of new Professors from the ranks of available candidates.
5. Election and appointment of the Senior Professor, Administrator of Curriculum, and Administrator of Internal Relations.
6. Standardization of all rank requirements, programs and techniques.
D. Corporation Officers
The Board of Professors shall appoint the following officers at the annual meeting of the AJJF:
1. Senior Professor
The primary functions of the Senior Professor are to provide leadership, be an esoteric example, and to actively participate in the preservation and perpetuation of the traditions inherited from Professor Henry Okazaki's DZR Kodenkan Jujitsu.
2. Administrator of Curriculum (AOC)
This office is responsible for maintaining, educating, and advising on all matters of DanZan Ryu technique, history, and philosophy, including clarifying and development of DanZan Ryu Kata as it pertains to the AJJF. The BOP has as a mandate the "preservation and propagation" of DanZan Ryu by way of the AJJF. The Administrator of Curriculum is the advisor to the BOP on matters of DZR and has the responsibility of maintaining the
purity of DZR within the AJJF as well as continued development of the teaching of Master Okazaki. The duties of the AOC are to preserve and propagate DZR within the AJJF. This officer is elected for a term of three years, subject to annual confirmation.
3. Administrator of Internal Relations
The AIR, Administrator of Internal Relations, is responsible for the continuity of the AJJF as it pertains to Ethics, The AJJF Code of Conduct and Conflict Resolution. The AIR is the AJJF's mediator and serves to maintain order by administering the Code of Conduct and Ethics for the greater good of the AJJF. This officer is elected for a term of 3 years, subject to annual confirmation.
