Internet Etiquette

Reminding members of proper etiquette while using the internet.
Further Information
It is expected that AJJF internet users will use proper
netiquette
when interacting with martial artists and members of the AJJF
by sending electronic mail (email), communicating over newsgroups,
or listservers.
The internet is a powerful tool, and it will
continue to serve the AJJF well as long as it isn't abused.
- When identifying yourself as an AJJF member,
you should consider that your comments will reflect
back on the AJJF. Please keep this in mind when posting to newsgroups,
listservers, or webpages.
- Members should be careful not to post objectionable or inappropriate messages on any newsgroup, listserver or web page since these messages can be reflective of the general AJJF membership.
- Tone and humor can be easily misunderstood from someone who does not know you, even with a "feelings" symbol (arrangements of punctuation to symbolize how the writer feels - happy, sad, confused, ...) at the end.
For example:
:) :( ??? ;) xxx :-> oxoxox !! 8=0
- If a member needs to express a strong opinion about a subject, s/he should continue the discussion privately.
- The membership is also requested not to use the list of AJJF members on-line for the use of chain letters or solicitation.
In fact,
many ISPs consider sending chain letters to be grounds for termination of your
account.
- Most virus warnings you receive as email messages are hoaxes.
Before forwarding such messages verify the accuracy of the information
and the validity of the source.
