Special Events

Opening Ceremony

We are pleased to present Elaine Stanley, an AJJF blackbelt and a former student of Professor Betty Maillette. She will be setting the tone for our Convention by telling stories designed to inspire and motivate. This will be a great way to set the mood for a Convention of true and positive intentions.

For those over 21...

We will be offering a beer social fundraising event on Friday evening. We plan on offering a variety of beers that will cater to many different tastes, at competitive prices. If you don't drink beer or alcohol, we'll have a selection of root beer available so you can still join us for a drink! Come to relax, enjoy the company of your fellow jujitsuka, and raise money for Convention at the same time!

Consultations

Nancy Webb is a Graphic Designer who will also be teaching a class on Saturday morning on how to make your brochures, flyers, business cards, and marketing materials professional and attractive. Learn how properly designed materials can help increase the numbers of students and attendees! Ms. Webb will be offering 20 minute consultations throughout the day on Saturday, after her class session. Bring your flyers and brochures and sign up for an appointment at a special, discounted rate. The results won't disappoint you!

Raffle

We'll be raffling off a variety of products, as well as a 50/50 raffle. There will be items from vendors who are selling at the Convention, as well as items from the AJJF Store. You'll have the chance to select which items for which you want to buy tickets, and the winners will be drawn and posted by Sunday morning. Bring a little cash on Friday and Saturday and see if you're a winner on Sunday!

Banquet

During the banquet we will enjoy a performance by Halau Ka Waikahe Lani Malie/Halau Kahaulaiwai, a hula group from Sacramento. Their performance, while meant to entertain and enjoy, is also sure to bring home the Hawaiian influence that pervades our system. We hope you will enjoy their performance, FREE with banquet admission!

We will also have portrait photography services available during the banquet. For only $8, you'll receive two professional quality digital images! Portrait photos of you with your sensei, with your friends, or with an instructor will help keep your experiences alive. Capture your memories of a great Convention in a professional photo, and support the AJJF and our Convention at the same time.
